Overview
To begin with, regarding the overall stay experience, from my personal perspective, Zhengzhou Dennis Plaza InterContinental Hotel is like the Shenyang Conrad Hotel, both unique within the InterContinental and Hilton brands. These two hotels represent the best service within their respective groups in China. Last year, during my planned trip to the Yinxu ruins in Anyang, I had made a reservation at the Zhengzhou Dennis Plaza InterContinental Hotel. At that time, I wrote an emotional email to the hotel requesting an upgrade to a suite, and the hotel gladly agreed. Unfortunately, the trip was canceled, and I couldn’t take advantage of the hotel’s kind gesture. This time, I used the same approach, but took advantage of the extended 15% discount and reward points redemption offer, booking a night with 17,850 points. The hotel responded quickly after receiving my email, and four days prior to my arrival, they reserved a one-bedroom suite for me and even called the day before to inquire about my estimated arrival time and any additional needs.
In Room
I was given a room on a high floor. I arrived at the hotel around 1:30 PM and checked in smoothly. If I were to mention the only flaw of the hotel, it wouldn’t be in terms of service but rather the room. The living room of the one-bedroom suite was a bit smaller than expected, but this did not affect my overall evaluation of the hotel. All in all, this hotel will not disappoint guests.
Dining
The executive lounge is located on the top floor, the 25th floor. It doesn’t open for breakfast but starts operating during afternoon tea time. The afternoon tea is à la carte, with self-service small cookies and nuts. The happy hour (HH) offers a wide variety of dishes, with many cold appetizers and desserts. The lounge staff was always proactive, cleaning the plates, checking if the dishes were to my liking, and asking if there were any additional requests. The breakfast variety and quality were excellent, especially the freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices and handmade buns, which showed the hotel’s sincerity. After recognizing my membership, the staff warmly guided me to my seat and quickly served coffee. The service was meticulous without being overbearing, reflecting genuine service from the heart.
Facilities
The gym and pool are located on the 9th floor. The gym has a stair climber machine that I had never seen before – please forgive my ignorance.
The Moments
On the day of check-out, the duty manager insisted on escorting me from the 7th floor to the main entrance. From the time of check-in until my departure, the hotel consistently exceeded my service expectations. Personally, I don’t like to exaggerate, nor do I hold overly stringent expectations for hotels. However, Zhengzhou Dennis Plaza InterContinental Hotel is, without a doubt, the best InterContinental hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
Conclusion
I will leave a few photos of the Yinxu Ruins Museum, as this was the true purpose of my trip. The hotel experience turned out to be a delightful unexpected bonus. I hope the hotel continues to maintain its high standards, and I look forward to returning in the near future to enjoy their excellent service again.
